Where the story began

The man behind the mission

A life shaped
by the water.

Lee Boon Leong—known to generations of students as Dolphin Lee—has worked professionally in swimming since 1996. His path spans swimming, lifesaving, scuba, freediving and professional mermaid training.

The Mermaid Mission developed into a structured academy combining breath control, monofin technique, artistry, teamwork and aquatic safety.

Mermaiding is approached here as a disciplined aquatic practice—not simply a costume.

1996

The aquatic journey

Begins working professionally in swimming, building the foundation for decades of teaching and water safety.

2010

The mission takes shape

The organisation dates its mermaid work in Klang to 2010, developing a specialist pathway for mermaid skills and underwater performance.

2019

International coverage

AFP reporting published in 2019 said the school had five instructors and had taught about 500 women.

2022

PADI recognition

PADI recognised Dolphin Lee Aquatic with a 10-year longevity award as a PADI 5 Star Dive Centre.

2023

The team performs an underwater Raya production at Aquaria KLCC, blending mermaid movement with Malaysian festive culture.
